The rulers are defying courts just to protect their ill-gotten wealth: Imran Khan – Photo by Online

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan has said his party will not support any unconstitutional move in the country.

He was replying to a query by the media here on Wednesday regarding latest developments in the federal capital, both on government and military fronts.

“The confrontation waged by inept rulers against state organs is not in national interest and all institutions will have to remain in their domains (to avert such situation).”

He reiterated that his party would stand behind the chief justice and the apex court in case the government acted against the judiciary and refused to implement its verdicts.

Imran said the rulers were defying courts just to protect their ill-gotten wealth.

He was speaking at a press conference, the launching ceremony of his book ‘Mein Aur Mera Pakistan’ and at a traders’ convention.

Former PML-N MNA Inaamullah Niazi, ex-PPP federal minister Khalid Kharal, ex-Q League Punjab minister Sibtain Khan, former MPs and ticket holders, including Chaudhry Ashfaq, Kashif Ashfaq, Brig (retired) Javed Akram, Farhan Lateef, Mumtaz Maharvi, Shahnawaz Cheema and Sajjad Chhaina announced their joining of the PTI at the press conference.

The PTI chief said the Muslim League-Nawaz had become ‘family league’ as scions of the Sharifs were now readying to take their turn of power and leadership was not being allowed to grow from the lower party cadre. He pledged democracy within the PTI.

He said the country was facing Rs1,000 billion deficit while the president and prime minister were consuming Rs120 billion annually on their foreign tours.

In Punjab, he said, the Khadim-i-Ala (Shahbaz Sharif) had established five Chief Minister’s houses at the expense of provincial kitty.

Meanwhile, former provincial minister Aleem Khan and MPAs Mushtaq Gujjar (PPP), Iftikhar Bamboo (PML-N) and Mansha Sandhu (PML-Q) are going to join the PTI on Thursday (today).

DISCENT: A PTI ‘splinter group’ held a press conference here to denounce the party leadership for ignoring the ‘true workers’ at a time when it was gaining popularity ‘due to their sacrifices’.

Akhtar Iqbal Dar, Rana Osama Shakoor Khan, Zafar Ali and Khwaja Asif announced forming ‘PTI-Founders’ and said the elements rejected in the previous polls were joining the party and were being given important slots.

They alleged corrupt candidates were given PTI tickets in the by-elections so far contested by the party.
