MULTAN, Jan 14: Annual elections of the district bar associations were held throughout Punjab on Saturday.

In Multan, Hafiz Allah Ditta Kashif was elected as president and Chaudhry Afzal Jutt as secretary-general in the DBA elections.

According to results, Hafiz Kashif secured 996 votes while his opponent Sher Zaman Qureshi got 842 votes. Chaudhry Afzal Jutt bagged 534 votes while his rivals Shahzeb Afsar, Aurangzeb, Wasim Khan, Zakir Hussain Naqvi and Arif Gondal got 430, 309, 219, 168 and 163 votes, respectively.

Sajid Aizadi clinched 750 votes and was elected as vice-president while his rivals Sajid Mehmood and Sheikh Khalid Hakim obtained 539 and 485 votes, respectively.

Zakiya Arif Bokhari was elected as joint secretary by getting 554 votes. Her rivals Malik Fayazul Hussain Bhutta, Rashid Bashir and Aziz Sarwar got 401, 447 and 383 votes, respectively.

Muhammad Masud Qureshi was elected as finance secretary by obtaining 1,084 votes while his opponents Khawaja Ijaz Hussain Siddiqui and Malik Fayazul Hassan Bhutta got 399 and 287 votes, respectively.

Eisa Usman Ghazi secured 739 votes and was elected as librarian. His rivals Sabeen Akhtar and Sharif Khera bagged 697 and 336 votes, respectively.

Counting of votes for executive body members were continuing till the filing of this report.

SAHIWAL: Muhammad Hussain Sagla was elected as president of the district bar association by securing 443 votes.

His rivals Tahir Shabbir and Shaikh Usman secured 303 and 196 votes, respectively. Rana Tahir Saeed was elected as vice-president (457 votes), Ashfaq Khan Baloch as secretary-general (500 votes) and Irfan Yousaf as joint secretary (511 votes).

KASUR: The Ittefaq group won the elections of the district bar association.

According to unofficial results, Muhammad Sharif Zahid of the Ittefaq group was elected as president and bagged 472 votes while his rival Muhammad Javid Kasuri could secure 227 votes.

Daud Aftab Bhatti was elected as vice-president by getting 350 votes and his rival Iftikhar Hussain obtained 327 votes. Shahid Nadeem Shoukat secured 367 votes and was elected as secretary-general while his rival Muhammad Rehan Chopra bagged 330 votes.

MUZAFFARGARH: Candidates affiliated with the Pakistan People’s Party won both seats of the president and the secretary-general in the annual DBA elections.

Justice Front Group candidate Syed Mansoor Ahmad won the president seat by getting 296 votes and Mian Sohail Akhtar won the seat of the secretary-general by obtaining 226 votes.

OKARA: Elections for the DBA were cancelled after a group of young lawyers tried to create mismanagement during polling here on Saturday. The fresh schedule of elections will be announced by the Punjab Bar Council.
