LANDI KOTAL, Jan 15: The administration of Khyber Agency on Sunday summoned about200 khasadars to the office of assistant political agent in Jamrud for their alleged involvement in corruption and taking bribe from truckers.

Political Agent Mutahirzeb Khan told Dawn that administration had been receiving reports since long about the involvement of khasadars posted at Takhta Beg checkpost in forcibly taking money from truckers taking goods to Afghanistan.

'We are investigating the matter and will take disciplinary action against those involved in corruption,' Mr Khan said, adding that so far the services of the Khasadar and Levies personnel had not been terminated but they were temporarily stopped from performing their official duties.

He said that about 200 Khasadar and Levies personnel, some officials and clerks among them, were removed from Takhta Beg checkpost and ordered to report to the office of assistant political agent in Jamrud.
