ACCORDING to media reports, Syed Jamaat Ali Shah, former commissioner of Pakistan Commission of Indus Water, whose name was put on the exit control list after it was alleged that he had helped and facilitated India in building a hydropower project on Pakistan’s Indus River, inflicting huge damage to the country’s water interests, has escaped to Canada.

It is surprising that Jamaat Shah has managed to dodge the authorities concerned and is now living safely in Canada. As a citizen, I demand that all parliamentarians and government officials holding dual nationalities be removed from their jobs. Also, Jamaat Shah could not have run away without the connivance of the interior ministry. The minister concerned must explain the situation.
