ISLAMABAD: The prosecutor general National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday assured the Supreme Court that they would not arrest former attorney general Malik Muhammad Qayyum on his arrival due to his indisposition but insisted that he would have to join the inquiry under court’s order.

KK Agha, NAB prosecutor general, told a seven-member special bench headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk over NRO implementation issue, that though they had issued warrants for him but would allow him the time he required for recovery from his illness.

He said that they had issued warrants as the former attorney general was not attending the inquiry.

Wasim Sajjad, counsel for Malik, stated that chairman NAB was moved to issue warrants with threats of removal from his office through court’s order.

Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmani remarked that the case against his client pertained to misuse of authority.

The bench adjourned further hearing till February 1.
