Six injured in Nowshera suicide bomb attack

NOWSHERA: Six people, among them a police official, were injured when a suspected suicide bomber blew himself up to avoid arrest, sources said.

They said a police team had cordoned off an area and during checking of vehicles asked a suspect-later identified as Azjad alias Jannat Gul, a resident of Ziarat Kaka Sahib area to get off his vehicle for body search.

However, the suspect tried to escape and while doing so detonated his explosive-laden vest. He died on the spot and six people were injured.

The injured included Akora Khattak SHO Alam Zeb Khan, policemen Gunner Fazle Hadi, Mumen and Fahad, and civilians Ayaz and Fazle.

The district police officer said the suspect was assigned to detonate his explosive vest at a crowded place.

The sources said that Nowshera police had arrested two suspects who disclosed the names and plan of the militants.
