PARACHINAR, Jan 21: A security official was killed and two personnel were injured in bomb blasts in Kurram Agency on Saturday.

Sources said Lieutenant Atta Muhammad died when a landmine planted by militants on a dirt track exploded in Talai area.

The sources said Saddiq suffered injuries in an ‘accidental’ blast in Amlook area. Another security man, Bashirullah, was injured when one of the vehicles taking paramilitary forces from Alizai to the garrison town of Thall was hit by a bomb near the Chappari check-post.

Security forces have launched an operation in the central part of Kurram. Officials said about 240 militants have been killed so far.

Meanwhile, a militant group shot dead two alleged kidnappers in Touda Chenna area on Saturday. Sources said Israfeel and Ghulam Nabi had allegedly kidnapped Muhammad Saeed, a taxi driver, from Sadda town about one month ago. Saeed was later murdered and the body was thrown near Alizai area.

The two suspects were captured by gunmen belonging to a little known Tehrik-i-Taliban Islami Pakistan group. Fazal Saeed Haqqani formed his own faction after developing differences with leaders of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan last year. The group is active in central and lower tehsils of Kurram Agency.
