HYDERABAD, Jan 23: Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad Asif Ali Memon on Monday directed assistant commissioners to get vacated the government land which had been in the possession of builder mafia.

At a meeting on encroachments in the city, the official said that precious government land had been encroached upon and occupied. He directed the officers concerned to take strict action against occupants without any discrimination. He said that encroachments had been made on main roads in urban talukas of the district, causing traffic problems and adding to noise and air pollution.

He directed the assistant commissioners to identify encroachments and get them removed with the help of police to ensure smooth flow of traffic and submit a report about removal of encroachments before Jan 28.
