KARAK, Jan 27: Two teenagers drowned when a boat capsized in Lawagher dam here on Friday.
Police sources said that 14 people, including women and children, of the same family of Mamani Lawagher village were bringing firewood and other daily-use items in a boat through Lawagher dam.
They said that the boat capsized and two persons drowned while 12 others were rescued by local divers. The two were identified as Naseebullah (13), son of Ashraf Khan, and an unnamed girl (14), daughter of Amanullah.
Sources said that the local police were trying to arrange divers from other parts of the district to fish out bodies from the dam, but till filing of this report no such arrangements could be made.
They said that the district administration had called divers from other neighboring districts to retrieve the bodies from the dam as soon as possible. The Mamani Lawagher village has turned into a virtual island, as the residents had no land link to the other side of the same village and they have to use boats for bringing daily-use commodities.
