KARACHI: Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad on Thursday announced to lift pillion-riding ban in Karachi and a holiday on Saturday for Rabi-ul-Awal, DawnNews reported.

The governor was heading a meeting of religious scholars belonging to different sects and higher authorities of the province including the home minister and Minister for religious affairs Mohammad Haseeb.

The meeting was called to review security and other arrangements with regards to birth celebrations of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh).

The governor announced to lift the pillion riding ban for Rabi-ul-Awal 11 and 12 (Saturday and Sunday) which was imposed by the Provincial Home Minister Manzoor Wassan on Tuesday.

He also announced a holiday on Saturday to compensate the Rabi-ul-Awal holiday as it was falling on Sunday.
