LAHORE: Jinnah Hospital administration on Wednesday handed over a one-year-old abandoned girl to a couple without issue after refusing some seven other hopefuls, including President Asif Ali Zardari, who wanted the baby for his sister MNA Faryal Talpur.
Allama Iqbal Medical College Principal Prof Dr Javed Akram handed over the baby girl, named Fatima by hospital doctors, to Mr Iqbal and his wife Ayesha in a ceremony organised at the college auditorium.
Scores of senior doctors, nurses and paramedics were also present on the occasion.
Ailing Fatima was left by an unknown woman at the hospital a couple of weeks ago.
Eight people, including President Asif Ali Zardari, had approached the hospital administration for adoption of the baby.
President Zardari had applied for adoption via Pakistan Baita-ul-Mal through a letter dated January 25, addressed to Medical Superintendent Dr Afzal Shaheen, stating, “The President of Pakistan has been pleased to direct that subject girl child may be handed over to Mrs Faryal Talpur, Member National Assembly, and sister of the President.”
The hospital committee constituted for the purpose, however, turned down the president’s request along with those made by seven other hopefuls.
The committee handed over the newborn to the Cavalry Ground couple on the condition that she would be given a share in the family’s property.
One must admit that Zardari is the most democratic president. The presidency does not react to any criticsim be it right or wrong. I wonder what would have happened to the doctors if they had said no to military dictators or the highest rankings intelligence officers.

Imposition of such terms certainly violate the guidance given in the Quran. But certainly, owners of assets are free to give to any they feel fit but again within the boundaries set by the Quran.
If there is an agreement between two parties then its totally abiding for all parties breaking that will be against the Quran too.
I think you misread the sentence. It says that the condition was set that the baby 'will' get a share of property which is not in conflict with the laws set in Islam.
According to islam one can give 1/3 of the property wherever they want too but the rest of the property should/must be distributed according to Quran.

ALLAH did best for the baby. It was nice to have 7 hopeful families for this baby girl. Iqbal & Ayesha of Cavalry Ground, may ALLAH BLESS you all and the baby in the family and may give you courage, patience, love and large heart to be great parents.

The hospital management has made a wise decision in demanding that the parents of the adopted baby girl are required to legally give the girl a share of their property. This will secure the girl's future, and will underline that girls should also have a right to the share of their parents' property. And, loving parents will certainly take care of the baby girl's education. That is foremost. Good luck for the happy parents!
Thanks Jinnah Hospital MS and team, I am sure you guys made a best decision for the future of this baby. After reading this news, I am hopeful from this country, that atleast there are some people still left who can stand to the right decisions.

It is not a Presidential prerogative to handover a baby to someone who has not shown personal interest! The couple who got the baby showed love and wanted the baby so the baby won loving caring foster parents.
