KARAK, Feb 1: A local jirga has demanded of the government to upgrade the only high school for boys in Khurram union council to higher secondary level to facilitate the students of the area.

“Hundreds of talented students of the areas say goodbye to education every year after matriculation as they cannot afford to go to other cities for getting education,” Khurram Qaumi Jirga president Mohammad Furqan Khan told a meeting here on Wednesday.

He said that two posts of ‘senior schoolteachers’ were vacant in the school since long that deprived students of getting science education. The meeting said that the vacant posts should be filled as early as possible.

The participants of the meeting also expressed dissatisfaction over the dilapidated condition of the school building. They demanded of the government to reconstruct the building to avoid any untoward incident.

The meeting said that a playground should be built for students over the government land, adjacent to the school.

WARNING: Khattak Ittehad, a local organisation, has set a two-week deadline to the government to put in order health centres across the district otherwise it would lock all hospitals.
