KOHAT, Feb 2: Two boys were injured after one of them stepped on a landmine during a football match in Akhorwal area of Darra Adamkhel town the other day.

Local officials, however, didn't confirm its being a terrorist activity and said investigations were underway and the reality about how landmine reached the playground would come out only after they're complete.

They said the two were shifted to a local hospital where they were out of harm's way.

Also in the day, police seized the body of a youth in Somari area on Bannu Road.

Lachi tehsil police said Noshad, 17, was tortured to death and that his body was autopsied before being given to his family for burial.

They said a case had been registered against unidentified killer(s).

Meanwhile, the deputy chief of Kohat region police on Wednesday ordered crackdown on encroachments in local bazaars and alongside highways within seven days for smooth flow of traffic.

The orders were issued during a meeting of district police officers of Karak, Hangu and Kohat respectively in his offices. Mr Masood Afridi asked the relevant authorities to involve local transporters and businessmen to make the anti-encroachment campaign a success.

underlined the need for creation of awareness among transporters of traffic laws to check accidents. He directed them to arrest transporters without lincence and route permits for legal action.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Wednesday linked the success of the current Afghanistan peace dialogue to Pakistan's inclusion in it.

JUI-F chief in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Maulana Amanullah told a news conference here that long-term peace was not possible in Afghanistan if Pakistan wasn't included in the ongoing talks for it.

He said Pakistan won't accept Afghan peace formula finalised by local stakeholders and European countries ignoring it.

"Afghan peace depends on Pakistan and Afghanistan and foreign powers can't exclude Pakistan from talks," he said.

Mr Amanullah said his party was ready to contribute towards Afghan peace if it was asked to do so.

He said JUI-F was a popular party with rich ideological history spanning over a century. He declared Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf a party of 'political orphans'.
