RECENTLY, a health festival was organised by a private sector hospital on Multan Road, Lahore. It was nice to see families attending it in good numbers, though the festival was held under the open sky on a cold evening. Various stalls were set up by their public and private sector concerns, which had displayed their products there and were distributing leaflets and other material.

One such leaflet was about a gadget, claiming that if used in a vehicle could result in saving up to 25 per cent of fuel consumption while giving more mileage and power to the car, besides being environment-friendly.

A visit to the stall concerned proved more useful and educative for people like me. Such a model should be tested and examined in detail by the federal and provincial governments.

The results, if found in line with the claims of the manufacturers and suppliers, should be publicised through the media for the overall benefit of the people who are extremely worried over the frequent petrol, CNG and diesel price hike.

If people have no control over petrol and gas prices, they can still go for fuel-saving measures in order to minimise the financial burden on their pockets, in particular those having limited earnings.
