SWABI, Feb 3: Leaders of various political parties here have said that Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) will not be able to win a seat from Swabi district in the next general election.

They were commenting on the upcoming visit of PTI chairman Imran Khan to the district on Feb 11 where he would address a public meeting at Shewa Adda. On this occasion, former MPA Jan Bahadar Khan of Pakistan People's Party-Sherpao would join the PTI.

Asad Qaisar, president of PTI's provincial working committee, also belongs to Swabi.

Commenting on Mr Bahadar's joining the PTI, local politicians said in their separate meetings that he had been associated with the PPP and then the PPP-S, but could not make any impression on the political scene. They claimed that the hue and cry made about the PTI's successful journey would be exposed soon.

Awami National Party district president Rehmanullah and general secretary Tamraiz Khan said in their meeting that none of their party leaders and workers would join the PTI. Mr Tamraiz claimed that Swabi would remain the stronghold of the ANP, as it had done record development projects in the district.

PPP-S provincial leader Masood Jabbar said that politics of Swabi was different from that of other regions and here people would not support the PTI leaders.

Usman Khan, former MNA of Jamaat-i-Islami, said that the politicians who recently joined the PTI could not bring any change in the country's politics. He claimed that none of the PTI candidates could win from here. Dildar Khan, PML-N district general secretary, also expressed similar feelings about Imran's party.
