The CID police produced the three suspects – Tauseef Ansari, Salahuddin Israel and Maulana Muhammad Rashid – before two anti-terrorism courts to get their remand in the 10 cases.

Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso of the ATC-I also remanded the suspects in police custody till Feb 13 in two other cases.

The investigation officers of the cases informed the courts that the CID arrested the suspects in the Mauripur area on Thursday after an encounter and found illicit weapons in their possession.

They said that the suspects also led the police to a couple of places where they kept arms and explosives.

They also alleged that the suspects disclosed their involvement in targeted killings.

Ten cases (FIR Nos 80/2012 to 89/2012) were registered against them under Sections 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 324 (attempted murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997, Sections 13-D and 13-E of the Pakistan Arms Ordinance, 1965 and Sections 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act at the CID police station.

Although the CID police had claimed during a press conference on Thursday that the suspects were also involved in the targeted killing of three lawyers late last month, they did not obtain their remand in the case on Friday.
