
KARACHI: A low-fare class has been introduced on the Business Express, the recently launched daily train service by the private sector between Karachi and Lahore, it emerged here on Tuesday.
The fare for the budget class is Rs1,500 less than that of the business class.A Business Express representative, Saddam Hussain, told Dawn on Tuesday that the one-way executive class fare remained the same - Rs5,000 - while the one-way fare for the newly introduced class, the budget class, had been fixed at Rs3,500.
Another representative, Mohammad Iqbal, said that the difference between the two classes was that no food would be served in the budget class which would also not have the LCD television facility.
However, he said, the seating arrangement would remain the same - with six berths in a compartment of a nine-compartment carriage - and bedding and drinking water would also be provided to guests in both classes.
The representative added that the occupancy ratio of the train was also picking up.
According to him, around 50 guests travelled the budget class on Tuesday out of a total of approximately 200 on the Business Express as a whole.
