ISLAMABAD: The wrong impression carried by a section of the media about the interview to Daily Sun by High Commissioner of Pakistan to UK, Wajid Shamsul Hasan is completely misplaced, according to a press release received here from Pakistan's High Commission in London on Thursday.

The High Commissioner had appreciated, among other things such as matchless ties between UK and Pakistan, British support for education and increasing trade/investment, the efforts made by the British government in conveying to the United States and Nato allies Pakistan's view that drone attacks were proving counter-productive, the press release said.

The collateral damage including the deaths of civilians in large numbers was helping the terrorists and not Pakistan. While the drone attacks have been totally alienating the people of Pakistan against the United States, space for Pakistan to carry on war against terrorism has also shrunk.

The impression carried by a section of the media that Pakistan was feeling weak in the knees in responding to the drone attacks is also wrong.

The present democratic government has taken a tougher stand by stopping Nato supplies, closure of Shamsi airbase and staying away from the Bonn conference.

Government's appropriate response is in keeping with the dictates of the Parliament and aspirations of the people of Pakistan as manifested in the unanimous resolutions of Parliament and massive street agitations condemning the drone attacks, the press release added.
