KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Wapda reached the final of the 59th National Hockey Championship after beating their respective opponents Army and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) by an identical 2-1 score line in the semi-finals at the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) here on Friday.

In the first semi-final, the goals for PIA were scored by Mohammad Irfan (14th min) and Shafqat Rasool (59th min) as Mohammad Rizwan (46th min) reduced the margin for Army.

In the second semi-final, SSGC scored first through Shabbir Ahmed Khan (16th min) but then Wapda equalised in the very next minute through Mohammad Imran (17th min) and got ahead through Aleem Bilal (20th min).

The final between PIA and Wapda will be played at the same venue at 2.00pm after the third-position match between Army and SSGC at 1.00pm.
