KARACHI, Feb 11: Discreet Cat, a seven-year-old bay horse, looks destined to stretch his winning run when he features in the second race of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. Discreet Cat had three wins, including two this year, under his belt and if all goes accordingly, he is tipped to land the feature event by overcoming opponents. Mohammad Essa, a former champion jockey, is credited for the back-to-back success.
Discreet Cat, which is also the Dawn’s day’s best, is likely to be opposed by mare Bankable and colt Tiny Terror among nine starters in the five furlongs class V div I and II and Class VI combined race.
Five-year-old chestnut mare, Over Stepped, is rated to make amends should she win the Kashmir Day Cup, which is the fourth race of the day.
She settled for second place after being beaten by Eager Saint by a length-and-a-half in The Rider Abdul Aziz II Memorial Cup on Jan 29.
On recent form, she looks poised to overcome challenger Naughty Boy in a field of seven horses.
Bay horse Koo Koo Love, formerly Ikhtiar, looks eager to claim the Malka-e-Kohsar Cup to atone for his last defeat in the next race.
Koo Koo Love has failed to open his account this year in the five appearances. He was beaten by Frankle by three lengths in the last outing. His likely challengers are Bacaradi and Honourable.
At the outset, mare Tripple Star comes in the reckoning to shine in the opener. Similarly, filly National Queen should make amends by sprinting to victory in the third.
Filly Lolly For Dolly and mare Chamak Challo should make amends in the last two races. A card of seven races including two cups has been drawn for the day. The first race starts at 1pm.
