DUBAI, Feb 15: Pakistan, inspired by fine centuries from Matloob Qureshi and Hasnain Alam, eased to a comprehensive 79-run victory over England in the first one-day match of the International Physical Disability Cricket Series at the ICC Global Cricket Academy here on Tuesday.
After skipper Saleem Karim won the toss and decided to bat, Pakistan scored 285-5 in their 40 overs with opener Matloob and Hasnain sharing a grand second-wicket partnership of 233. Hasnain led the way by smashing 136 from 105 balls in a nock featuring 19 boundaries and a six.
Matloob finished undefeated on 113 off 110 balls. His innings contained 12 fours.
England captain James Williams claimed two wickets for 61 runs in eight overs.
England, in their turn at the crease, fell well short of the target by finishing on 206-6. Opener Callum Flynn was the top-scorer with a 40-ball 32.
Slow left-armer Ameer Ahmed bowled tidily to take two for 37.
Matloob was declared the Man-of-the-Match.
The second game in the three-match series will be played at the same venue on Friday.
