LAHORE, Feb 17: Five-goal Gaston Moore and half goal on handicap helped Master Paints beat Army 6½–6 in the Aibak Polo Cup here on Friday.

Master Paints took 1½–1 lead in the first chukker.

Englishman James Harper, who was the hero for the losing side by contributing four goals, struck his first, capitalising a 30-yard penalty hit.

Soon Moore fired his first through a field attempt to retain the lead.

Moore was on song in the second chukker, adding back-to-back goals.

First, he converted a 30-yard penalty and then a 40-yard penalty to consolidate the lead 3½–1.

Army was not ready to give up the fight and in the third chukker came closer, reducing the lead to 5½–4.

While Moore pumped in two more goals, James Harper (2) and Raja Temur Nadeem (1) fought well for the losing side.

Army was on the verge of win in the fourth chukker, as Raja Temur and Harper hit one goal each in the fourth chukker.

But Ignacio Del Tour slammed Master Paints’ sixth goal, cashing in on a 30-yard penalty, to take the score to 6 ½–6.

In another match, Colony Sugar chalked up a 5-3 win against Guard Group to enter the final.

Raul Laplacette hit three goals while Santiago Mendivil two for the winners. For the losing side, Hissam Ali Haider scored all the three goals.
