LAHORE: The Supreme Court while hearing suo motu proceedings into the death of patients by using adulterated medicine issued by Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) termed the Young Doctors Association (YDA) illegal and summoned health secretaries of the four provinces on the next hearing.

During the hearing at the Lahore Registry on Wednesday, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, a member of the two-judge bench headed by Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani, observed that the conditions of health facilities show that the government was not spending money on them.

The bench remarked that the YDA had no legal status.

The court had slammed on Monday doctors for observing a strike in order to get their demands fulfilled.

The Advocate General Punjab Ashtar Ausaf Ali informed the bench that improving facilities at all provincial hospitals was the government’s top most priority.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till March 12 on the YDC application.—DawnNews
