HRW has presented timely, balanced, evidence-based reports on rights issues in Pakistan (superior judiciary, Swat militancy, disappearances, Shia/Hazara killings, murder of education staff), and in Indian-administered Kashmir, making an outstanding contribution to highlighting them. HRW and Ali Hasan have been targeted by a section of the media for being present at the House hearing, without bothering to report the clear HRW position that "Balochistan was an internationally recognised province of Pakistan". The military propaganda office has hurled criminal threats at HRW Directors for their views on the Saleem Shahzad murder. Rights activism is a high-risk, thankless undertaking and requires brave and dedicated people – HRW has one in Ali Hasan. Thank you Ali Hasan, thank you HRW.

The territorial integrity of Pakistan is not up for negotitation. Short of that, anything and everything should be discussed. The fact that we have an insanely corrupt ruling class is really the source of not only balochistans problems but the rest of Pakistan as well.

The sufferings of the Baluchi people are no exception. Pakistan needs to get rid of the yoke of feudalism and tribal system, to end the sufferings of the masses. The present ruling groups, both on the provincial and federal levels, are to be blamed and not the masses of Pakistan.

Baluchistan has been a thorn in Pakistans side since a few years after independence. Till today your government cannot resolve it.Even the Americans are now saying that it should have it's own voice and independence. Yet you are fighting for kashmir?

I very largely am in agreement with saner and nuanced concerns for Baluchistani's human Rights . It is important to realize as MR Ali D. hasan argues that counties cannot be formed or disrupted by resolutions of Human Rights Watch.

However, the facts of denial of Rights of masses in a province like Baluchistan could not be left to the tender Conscience of federal or local gendarmes , alone . The people of Baluchistan must feel the glow of bonding In Jamuruiya -e-Pakistan , too. D. Goel
