LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q former MNA Marvi Memon has decided to join the rival faction of her party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

According to sources, Ms Memon will call on PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif at Raiwind here on Sunday to make her decision public at a press conference.

She had resigned from her National Assembly seat in June 2011 in protest when the PML-Q decided to join hands with the People’s Party-led federal government.

Making her debut in political arena in 2008 election on a reserved seat for women, she soon made her name by openly speaking against corruption of the rulers and for women rights.

Her decision will put an end to speculations about her joining Imran Khan’s Tehrik-i-Insaaf as she attended two high-profile PTI events in the recent past.

She was also present at the PTI’s Ghotki rally where former foreign minister and PPP leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced his decision to join hands with Imran Khan.

The PTI had also offered her, as she claims, an important central party office.

The PML-Q leadership had been trying to woo Marvi back into the party as she was not only active inside the parliament but also in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections.
