GUJAR KHAN, March 9: Two cousins, who had recently returned from UK to their village Rattala, were shot dead and three others injured by alleged extortionists in Jabbar town, some 18km from here on Friday.

According to the police sources, Matloob Hussain and Tahir Mehmood along with other members of the family went to meet their relatives in Jabbar town. Meanwhile, three brothers Nasir Ali, Zafar Ali and Jawaid Iqbal along with their accomplices Rafaqat Ali and Tariq Mehmood, residents of Khajoori village, intercepted them and opened indiscriminate fire at them killing Matloob Hussain and Tahir Mehmood on the spot while Walayat Hussain, Rizwan Mustafa and Nasir Mehmood sustained critical injuries.

According to the police sources, the accused were demanding money (bhutta) from the UK returned cousins but they refused to fulfill their demand. The police registered a case and launched hunt for alleged killers who had escaped from the scene.
