Kamiar Rokni for Bonanza put on the ramp a brilliant 20-design, two-colour collection for the 2012 lawn season last week. The designer’s three-story collection for the show, Romantics, Traditionalist and Modernist, reminded one of the early trends in art.

And art it was for The Romantics featured a feminine, soft, pristine print collection with a delicate cut and design, and a lot of movement such as free-floating and blow-up flowers, water colour effects and impressions of English gardens. The Traditionalist carried a unique twist and the catch was cultural heritage by using it to create drama in prints. The Modernist was funky with experimentation in boldness and striking colour blocking, geometrics, stripes, polka dots, bold, modern art and international trends.  Dadha Rohna saw short shirts while Gulbahar featured ivory printed pants while Riyasat had evening wear, Rahi introduced high painchaas, Shabana focused on rilli print and Renaissance embodied diamante droplets. Also outstanding were Misty, Jodi Jodi and Zulu.

Kamiar Rokni placed himself on the ramp to carry out the fashion commentary as models Sana Sarfraz, Sana Khan, Monica, Nadia Baloch, Saima Haroon, Sehrish Bukhari, Maham, Maha, Marvi, Saba Sikandar, Falak, Noorey and Areeba walked its length to display the outfits.—T.R.
