The first artiste featured in the music reality show that believes in finding, honing and promoting new, previously undiscovered talent is Jarar Malik. A Washington DC-based Pakistani artiste, Jarar gave up his corporate aspirations to focus on his music. He plays the guitars and keyboards and has also worked as a sessions musician. Back home he also has his own recording studio where he has just finished recording his debut album.

Jarar’s journey from Washington DC to Karachi is documented as well as his introduction to the bigger and better studio used by Ufone Uth Records this season. A known bassist in his own right, Russell D’Souza is called in to contribute his skills to Jarar’s original song, Bewafa. Previously featured as an artiste in season one of the show, Natasha Humera Ejaz, makes an appearance in this episode as a backing vocalist and helps out in mixing the audio. Her presence and quirky personality adds a bit of life to the episode.

Jarar Malik featuring Russell D’Souza and Natasha Humera Ejaz on Bewafa is a catchy pop song that is fun to listen to but isn’t particularly memorable. Having said that, Bewafa has potential – it is an easy-listening track that can make it to the music collection in your car’s stereo – albeit for a very short time. n
