Malik for action against PML-N’s role in Mehrangate
ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, while claiming that the he had ‘solid proof’ in the Asghar Khan case, demanded legal action against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The minister was talking to reporters outside the Parliament House.
Malik said that the PML-N should be charged with treason for conspiring against the democratic government of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the 1990 general elections .
The money distributed by Younis Habib is on record and I will produce evidences regarding it in the court, he added.
The Supreme Court has taken up a petition filed in 1996 by Air Marshal Asghar Khan (retired) accusing the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) of financing several politicians, including the Sharifs, during 1990 elections to create Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) and to prevent Benazir Bhutto’s People’s Party from winning the polls.
