HYDERABAD, March 21: The chief of Awami Ittehad Party Liaquat Ali Jatoi has said that $30 billion of looted money has been stashed away in foreign banks, Rs300 billion has been misappropriated on import of fertiliser and Rs26 billion worth land in Hawksbay, Karachi has been given away to Jiyalas.

Addressing a news conference at Latifabad here on Wednesday, Mr Jatoin who is also former chief minister and minister for power said that there was also plan to dispose of all land right from Rani Kot to Kotri and appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu action in the matter.

MQM and ANP, too, could not be absolved of this massive corruption, he said. PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif would visit Betto Jatoi on March 26, and he would be accorded a warm welcome, he said.

He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif had extended a hand of friendship to him and the two parties could reach some understanding.

During last four years an amount of $30 billion had been sent abroad through money laundering, he said.

He accused the government of selling all jobs, even those of a peon and watchman. The poor were compelled to sell their children at auction because of unbearable price hike, he said.

Answering a question about the performance of Supreme Court, he said the Chief Justice of Pakistan was making sincere efforts to uproot corruption and end lawlessness and he had taken some very courageous decisions.

He expressed hope the chief justice would be able to bring back the looted wealth to the country. People felt ashamed at their prime minister’s statement submitted to the Supreme Court, he said.

He said the looted money was lying not only in Swiss banks but also in London, France, the UAE and other countries in the shape of landed and immovable properties.

He said when he was minister for water and power, power tariff was Rs2.13 per unit, which had now shot up to Rs14 per unit. In 2007, price of oil in international market was $120 per barrel but it was being sold at half the rate, he said.
