KARACHI, March 24: A preliminary report of investigation into the Saturday killing of a senior lawyer and his young son has been sent to Chief Justice Mushir Alam of the Sindh High Court by a district and sessions judge.

Official sources said that the district and sessions judge of the Malir district courts, Imdad Hussain Khoso, was directed by the chief justice to monitor the investigation into the case and submit a preliminary report to him immediately.

They said that the chief justice was attending a conference in Islamabad when he was informed about the killing.

The sources said that Chief Justice Mushir Alam immediately issued directions to the district and sessions judge to closely monitor the investigation into the double murder. The directions were conveyed by the SHC registrar through a letter to the sessions judge.

They said that the monitoring judge also visited the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the victims’ bodies had been brought for an autopsy. They said that the judge remained present at the hospital until the bodies were handed over to the bereaved family.

The sources said that the preliminary investigation report was emailed to the chief justice.

The monitoring judge was also directed by the chief justice to maintain a close liaison with the president and the secretary of the Malir Bar Association in this regard.

The sources said the Chief Justice Mushir Alam also directed the Inspector-General of Sindh police to submit an investigation report to him on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Sindh High Court Bar Association has announced that the legal fraternity would stay away from the legal proceedings in the high court on Monday as a mark of protest.
