MUZAFFARGARH, March 24: The police claimed on Saturday to have arrested suspected rapist Muhammad Khalid Chawand and registered a case against another suspect.

Khalid Chawand, along with his accomplices, allegedly abducted a 14-year-old girl and raped her. On Thursday morning, Khalid threw her unconscious near her home.

A former nazim, Khalid Araien, called both parties and gave some money to the girl’s family but her uncle Ramzan got money to hush up the case. The police foiled the bid and registered a case against two suspects.

Sources said some political activists pressurised the police to register a case against Ashraf who had informed the media about the incident.

Mahmoodkot police SHO Farooq Afaq said the case against Ashraf would be withdrawn after investigation.
