ACC dismisses Bangladesh Asia Cup appeal

KARACHI: Cricket’s governing body in Asia on Monday rejected a complaint from Bangladesh that one of their batsman was obstructed by a Pakistani bowler in their recent Asia Cup final defeat.
The complaint was rejected on the grounds that it was not reported by on-field umpires, an official said.
Ashraful Huq, chief executive of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), said Bangladesh officially complained about the last over of the final, which Bangladesh narrowly lost.
“We had received Bangladesh’s complaint but since the incident was not reported by the on-field umpires nothing can be done,” Ashraful told AFP from Kuala Lumpur.
Bangladesh had appealed to the ACC to review the final over, accusing Pakistani paceman Aizaz Cheema of deliberately blocking batsman Mahmudullah Riyad from taking a second run.
Pakistan beat Bangladesh by two runs to lift the four-nation Asia Cup after a thrilling final on Thursday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board had expressed disappointment over Bangladesh’s complaint, calling it an “after thought” after defeat.
Ashraful, who also hailed from Bangladesh, said the International Cricket Council (ICC) had also turned down the complaint.
“It could have happened then and there, in the final but since umpires and match-referee did not take any action then, so the matter is closed,” said Ashraful.
“I think the Bangladesh team played so well in the whole tournament, beating India and Sri Lanka — World Cup 2011 finalists — was no mean achievement and although they lost the final, the Bangladesh team won millions of hearts.”

Guys we should NOT mix the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) with the general Bengali nation. This appeal was done by the BCB…and i know as a fact that most of the Bengali people were against such an appeal made by their board. I think it is very clear that this appeal done by the BCB was actually instigated by the Indian Board. It is a well known fact that the BCB and in fact the whole current gov of Sheikh Hasina is very pro-india. Why else do you think the BCB suddenly cancelled their tour of pakistan when they agreed to it first!! And now this appeal!! But it is JUST the gov and their board who are like that….NOT the whole nation. Most Bengali people LOVE pakistanis….and this is evident from the support pakistan team gets from Bengalis whenever we play any other team in Bangladesh. Even in india-pakistan matches….vast majority support pakistan. And we Pakistanis always support Bangladesh. DO NOT play into the hands of India. Maintain that friendship and respect for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh cricket board has shades the grace of the team and country by seeking foul, wrong and shame full ways ways to steel trophy from Pakistan who when once lost from BC in world cup said "they are happy as their brother country had won them".
I am a pakistani… i would hav ebeen happy for Bangladesh to win… after all we are suppose to be rbothers! however this act of complaining shows how disunited the muslims are.. quite frankly disgusting. But w emust not judge the whole Bangladeash nation.. as i woul dlike to thinmk there are people who see differently. BCB did absolutely right thing.Do you guys remember 1986 world cup football ? Maradona used his hand to make the goal and they won world cup .Did FIFA changed the result ? NO they didn't. same thing happened in Asia cup.when game is over ACC do not want to change it.But the real fact is Pakistani player did obstacle Bangladeshi player.read this and STOP writing against BCB
I think you were born to view this ball 49.1 of match. Ask your father to say the complete first innings wrong decision against Pakistan (Umar AKmla, Younis Khan) and Mushrafe blocking Shahid Afridi.
And what about scoring rate of Naser Hussain & Nizammudin.

when pak lost to bd in world cup hasina said this defeat of pakistan has refreshened her memories of war of 71. This act of BCB clearly reflected her personal grudge towards pakistan. She is still living in those old days. By having prejudice and bigotary one cannot improve. Bangladeshis are highly talented in sports. But this act of BCB has just given them an insulting response from ACC and ICC.
As a Bangaldeshi, I can say, it was the decision of BCB only, nothing to do with Bangladeshi people. Even most of the Bangladeshi protested against this complain in the local newspaper comment section… and so far I know PM Hasina went there to watch match as a fan , she was not listed as a chief guest to handover trophy …
What did you expect from a nation whose prime minister rushed out so that she didn't have to hand out the winning team the trophy. What do you expect from a nation whose cricket captain didn't even utter a simple "praise worthy" compliment to the other team. What do you expect from the nation whose crowd were heard bowing and not clapping a single run being scored or a wicket falling against them. This just goes to show how much we are hated by our so called "brother". Yes we did them wrong once but to cry over it again and again just goes to show how immature they are as a nation.
Cricket is passion, it fuels and galvanizes us as a nation. Let them busk in the glory of defeat. All i say is, "suck on this" and while you have issues winning trophies why not make your own little utopia of sports entertainment like america. World Championships and what not!
Don't blame us for the foolishness of BCB's act.Majority of us don't like BCB's president Mustafa Kamal and members.Mustafa Kamal did not want to include our finest Batsman Tamim Iqbal Khan in the team just because he is non bengali.Remember Ashraful Haq(who hailed from Bangladesh) rejected BCB's Appeal.We are happy for reaching the final for the first time and Pakistanis deserve to celebrate for winning the cup after 12 years.
