ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit a detailed inquiry report in 15 days on the missing containers of the International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) that caused a loss of over Rs50 billion to the exchequer.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, was hearing the case in Islamabad on Wednesday.
During the hearing, the chief justice said that media reports say the losses incurred from the missing containers have reached a peak of Rs70 billion.
The Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) chairman has serious reservations about the media reports, said the FBR’s lawyer, adding that the losses did not amount to as much as was quoted in the reports.
The bench ordered the accountability bureau to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and submit the report in 15 days.
