KARACHI: Addressing a Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) core committee meeting at Karachi’s Bilawal House on Monday, President Asif Ali Zardari ordered Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to personally visit Lyari and address the law and order situation in the area, DawnNews reported.

The meeting was held to discuss the overall law and order situation in Karachi with special emphasis on Lyari.

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Home Minister Sindh Manzoor Wasan , Inspector General Sindh Police, Commissioner Karachi and other high officials also attended the meeting.

“Lyari was the hub of PPP’s vote bank and will always remain so,” the president remarked.

Moreover, President Zardari ordered the officials to address the issues of Lyari’s people on an emergency basis.

The president issued orders to the law enforcement authorities to take non-discriminatory actions to restore peace of Karachi, Manzoor Wassan informed.

The president directed to install police check posts on all the entry and exit points of the city, Wassan added.
