LAHORE: Demanded an end to unannounced power loadshedding, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said his province was facing discrimination over the issue.

Addressing the media here on Monday before the start of the energy conference, Sharif said he does not want to indulge into blame games but the entire country including Punjab was suffering from the energy crisis.

The energy conference began here on Monday under the chairman ship of Prime Minister Yousf Raza Gilani and was being attended by the chief ministers of the provinces.

Sharif said the sacrifices made for the National Finance Commission (NFC) award have been rendered into a form of punishment.

The economy has been destroyed due to the energy crisis, he said, adding that industries have suffered losses due to which investors were left with no option but to transfer there investments abroad.

The PML-N leader suggested that sugarcane bagasse can be used to produce up to 2000 MW of electricity.

Being the chief executive of Punjab, it was his duty to inform of the problems being faced by the people, he said. —DawnNews
