KARACHI: A three-day jewellery exhibition, featuring replicas from the Mughal period by Ahmed Haroon Khan, opened at the Zenaini Art Gallery on Monday.

The jewellery, mostly made of silver and sprinkled with a few grams of gold, are reincarnations of the era when nizams of the Mughal Empire ruled over individual principalities in the subcontinent.

We are reminded of the nizams’ lifestyle, the way they carried themselves and their sartorial sense.

Talking to Dawn, Ahmed Haroon Khan said, “I’ve been doing this for the past seven or eight years.

The idea behind the mix of silver, gold and stones is to make the pieces more affordable while fusing the past and the present.”—Staff Reporter
