LAHORE, April 11: Laeequddin Ansari, senior executive director (technical) of Millat Tractors Ltd, on Wednesday presented a cheque for Rs10 million to Forman Christian College Rector Dr Peter Armacost to provide financial assistance to the deserving students at the university.
The amount will cover need-based scholarships for 75 students over a period of three years (2011-14 session). The ceremony, attended by a number of student beneficiaries, was held at Elahi Building on the FCC campus. Moazzam Khan Lodhi, Mehwish Iqbal, Junaidul Hassan and Faiza Maqsood thanked the company for supporting their education.
In all, the FCC Financial Aid Office has provided 1,800 students with financial aid amounting to Rs120 million for the current academic year.
Mr Ansari, a Formanite, spoke about FCC’s contribution in developing his personality. He wished all the scholars success in life and expressed hope they would contribute towards the growth of the nation.
Dr Armacost said Millat’s leadership was in line with the needs of Pakistan by providing support to university, technical and vocational education. He hoped that by taking advantage of this opportunity, the Millat scholars would make the country strong and MTL proud.
MTL Director Finance Javed Munir, FCC Executive Vice-Rector Dr James Tebbe, FCC Registrar Dr Hamid Saeed, FCC Chief Advancement Officer Dr Manzur Gill and FCC Director Financial Aid Anthony Williams were also present.— Staff Reporter
