ISLAMABAD, April 14: A member of Gilgit-Baltistan’s Legislative Assembly was arrested by capital police here on Saturday, police sources said.

Mirza Hussain from LA-5 Gilgit-V was arrested by Aabpara police in connection with a case registered with them on January 9, under PPC 489-F (dishonestly issuing a cheque) in response of a complaint lodged by Mohammad Aslam. The cheque Mirza gave to the complainant valuing Rs3.5million on March 23, 2010, was allegedly dishonored.

The arrested MLA later reached a settlement with the victim. However, no official word was available over the issue despite making several attempts.
