KARACHI, April 15: A flyover built at the Habib Bank Chowranin in the SITE area was inaugurated by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Sunday.

The 750-metre-long Afza Altaf flyover was constructed at a cost of Rs540 million and with its construction the entire section from Sharea Faisal to Ghani Chowrangi has become signal free.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Ibad said that the flyover was built in response to the longstanding demand of the people because many lives had been lost in traffic accidents over the years because of a lack of proper road network.

He said that the flyover would also provide a facility to industrialists.

The flyover was completed in four months.

Sindh Industries Minister Rauf Siddiqui thanked the governor and the chief minister for facilitating the completion of this project.

He also thanked the provincial Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah and others for making this project a reality in a record time. He said that a quick response centre as well as offices of Rangers, Madadgar 15 and ambulance service of the Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation had been set up beneath the flyover in response to a 15-year-old demand of the area people.

He announced one-month bonus salaries for the employees of the SITE limited.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmad said that the haq parast leadership had given practical shape to the vision of its leader Altaf Hussain. He also appreciated the role of Mr Siddiqui for completing the work in a record time. Siraj Kassam Teli also appreciated the completion of the project that would facilitate a smooth flow of traffic in the area.
