QUETTA, April 17: The womenfolk of Hazara Shia community took out a procession on Tuesday under the auspices of Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen and demanded of the provincial government to resign over “its failure to protect the lives of Hazaras”.

The protesters carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the government and terrorists marched from Imambargah Nachari to the Hazara graveyard where they offered prayers for the victims who died in target killings.

The protesters said the performance of the government was disappointing and it had completely failed in arresting terrorists involved in the killing of members of their community.

They said a government which could not ensure the basic rights of the people had no right to remain in power, adding that it was the responsibility of the government and law-enforcement agencies to maintain the rule of law.

They said that police and other law-enforcement agencies had completely failed in arresting any of the terrorists.

They said that any amount of compensation could not replace a murdered father or a slain brother of a family.

They demanded that instead of announcing compensation for victims of such acts of terror, the government should take tough measures to bring to an end this ongoing reign of terror against members of the Hazara community.
