ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday issued contempt of court notices to the four provincial health secretaries in the Lady Health Workers’ issue, DawnNews reported.

The apex court directed the health workers to end their protest and resume their respective duties.

Lady Health Workers have been protesting against non-payment of salaries and against the government’s failure to regularise their services for months across the country and seem to have reached their limits. They had demanded that 1,30,400 members of the LHW program be regularised and their salaries paid.

Last week, during their protest in Islamabad, they had given a one day ultimatum to the authorities for their demands to be met and threatened to commit mass suicide.
