KARACHI, April 24: A judicial magistrate remanded on Tuesday a suspect in police custody till April 30 in a case pertaining to the murder of a senior journalist.

Murtaza Razvi, senior assistant editor and head of Dawn’s magazines, was found murdered in an art studio within the remit of the Darakhshan police station on April 19.

The police produced the suspect, Waqas, before a judicial magistrate (south) and sought his physical remand stating that another suspect was still at large and he would be arrested with the help of the detained suspect.

The court handed over the suspect to police on a six-day physical remand and directed the investigation officer to produce him in court on next hearing along with a progress report.

The police said that they arrested the suspect in the Gizri area on Monday. After committing the murder, the suspect along with his accomplice took away cellphone and other valuables of the victim, according to the police.
