ISLAMABAD, April 26: The capital police have been directed to launch a crackdown against drug pushers, wine sellers and the guesthouses involved in immoral activities.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Bani Amin Khan issued these directions during a meeting to the police officials so that immediate campaign against anti-social elements could be launched.

He said that it had been brought into his notice that some guesthouses were involved in immoral activities. He said that immediate steps against them should be taken to curb such activities. He also ordered to arrest proclaimed offenders and other criminals The police officials found negligent in discharging their duties in this regard would be dealt severely in accordance with the law, Mr Khan warned the police officials.

Meanwhile, the capital police arrested five outlaws from different areas of the city and recovered 568 wine bottles, one kilogram heroin, a pistol and 500 rounds from their possession, a police spokesman said.

The Shahzad Town police during special checking at ‘Malot-Kuri Road’ intercepted a truck (MD-RA-056) and during checking recovered 556 wine bottles.

The Golra police intercepted a man on suspicion and during search recovered one kilogram heroin from him. The police also arrested a man after recovery of a pistol along with 500 rounds from him.

The Bhara Kahu police arrested a person after recovery of two wine bottles from him. The Ramna police also recovered 10 bottles of wine from a man which led to his arrest.
