LAHORE, April 26: Two policemen on patrol duty were shot at and injured by two motorcyclists at Pakistan Air Force Colony in Cantonment on Thursday.

The police set up a picket soon after the incident and checked motorcyclists.

The North Cantonment police said Naveed Iqbal and Shahzad were patrolling the area when they signalled two motorcyclists to stop. The suspects instead opened fire and accelerated.

Naveed and Shahzad were shifted to Services Hospital with injuries. The police registered a case and launched hunt for the suspects.

STABBED: A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by two brothers over a minor issue at Marzipura locality of Shafeeqabad on Thursday.

The Shafeeqabad police said Nadeem and Waseem attacked Nazar Hussain following an argument and left him injured. Nazar succumbed to his wounds at Mayo Hospital.

Preliminary police investigation showed that the suspects had stopped the victim from standing in street 10 days ago and they exchanged a word. Nazar was standing in the street when the two brothers attacked him on Thursday.

ROBBERIES: Robbers injured two persons and plundered cash and valuables during several hits in the city on Thursday.

Two robbers deprived Abbas Shah of Rs20,000 in cash, a cell phone and his motorcycle on Baidian Road in Burki police precinct. They shot at and injured Abbas on resistance.

Two robbers stopped Tasawar in Green Town police area and deprived him of Rs200,000 in cash and a cell phone. They also beat him up before fleeing.

Two armed men robbed Imran of Rs30,000 in cash, cell phone and motorcycle in City Raiwind police area and two robbers snatched Rs24,000, cell phone and motorcycle from Safdar in Kahna police precinct.

Robbers stormed into the house of Mrs Abbas in Muslim Town and took away cash and valuables worth Rs500,000.

A gang robbed Arslan of cash and valuables worth Rs400,000 during a strike at his house in Liaquatabad.

A Rescue 1122 team captured two robbers shortly after they looted cell phones and purses from two women near Iqbal Town’s Moon Market.

An official said the ambulance was going to Multan Road when the driver halted suspecting an emergency situation. He said as the women pinpointed the suspects on a bike, the officials chased them and managed to overpower them.

During scuffle emergency medical technician Siddique suffered injury. The suspects were handed over to the Iqbal Town police.
