Radio is an important mode of communication and more importantly a platform for discussion and projecting views. It allows people to make decisions make on the merit go the arguments and those presenting them rather then flashy appearances and hoohaa. Radio Pakistan should be supported not only by the government but also by Pakistanis and made independent in its views and its operations to make it a competitive and useful enterprise.

Thank you Mr. Mussavir Ahmed for your heart touching letter to save the Radio Pakistan from total destruction. Since my boyhood I was grew-up with the Radio Pakistan's opening music. From the beginning I used to compare Pakistani and Indian radio programs and felt sad with the Radio Pakistan broadcast quality. Even during the 1971 Radio Pakistan was completely failed to bring their listeners together. I think they do not even possess any high frequency medium or shortwave transmitters for international service compare with her neighbour. I can also remember the Indian broadcasting capability that with their high powered medium wave transmitter they were really able to create a remarkable impression among the then East Pakistani listeners. Since after the creation of Bangladesh, Radio Pakistan launched a special Bengali program in the name of 'Mitali' which left a big impact and earned a big popularity among the radio listeners in all ages. Though it was broadcast on the shortwave frequency still we the listeners had a believe that the Pakistan authority will soon be able to start the 'Mitali' on a high frequency medium wave transmitter. The expectation was right in the hope that our young generation at least will know each others based on same religion, history and culture three times on a daily basis. Instead of fulfilling our over expectation, Radio Pakistan all on sudden shut down their popular Bengali special program for ever and there is a minimal one they do have on the shortwave band that no body pay attention any more! In echoing with your voice Mr. Mussavir, I like to urge the Pakistan govt. and the PBC to review the importance of massive propaganda in and outside of the world. If they know the truth would be more careful and even won't hesitate to input more money in order to get maximum output in and outside of the listeners!

Pakistan radio is going in drain day by day, it is a sad and fact ,we have to accept this.
