ATTOCK, April 26: Ten officials of Pindigheb police stations were dismissed from service for handing over burnt Nato supplies oil tankers to their owners unlawfully.   

Two other police officials were suspended on serious misconduct, police spokesman Malik Javed said.

He said that District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Hilal Khan sacked former SHO Pindigheb police station Inspector Aqeel Abbas, former In-charge Dullian police post of same police station Sub Inspector (SI) Ghulam Shabeer and constables Suhail Ahmed, Gohar Mehmood, Waqar Ahmed, Tauqeer Nawazish, Mohammad Imran, Mohammad Asif, Mehtab Imtiaz and Jabbar Khan.

Earlier, the officials had been suspended for handing over six burnt Nato supplies oil tankers to their owners without any permission from the high-ups.  The tankers had been under the police custody since the terrorist attack on May 1 last year. SP Investigation conducted a departmental inquiry which found them guilty of the violation of relevant rules, the spokesman said.

According to Malik Javed, two constables Akhtar Nawaz and Asad Abbas of the same police station were suspended for remaining absent from the duty. Both of them were asked to report to the district police lines till further order.

Meanwhile, the DPO awarded appreciation certificates to eight police officials including Inspector Walayat Hussain, SI Asghar Khan, ASI Mehboob Khan, head constables Mohammad Dawood, Mohammad Ayaz, constables Waseem Iqbal, Suhail Aslam and Naveed Ahmed for their good performance, he said Earlier, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Haji Habibur Rehman appointed Raja Tahir Bashir as DSP headquarters.
