LAHORE: Mohammad Yousuf’s hopes of returning to international cricket were all but dashed when Pakistan’s chief selector Iqbal Qasim remarked in a press conference that the team was now looking to the future, DawnNews reported.

Talking to the media here on Friday after watching the trials for Under-19 World Cup, Qasim adviced Yousuf to play domestic cricket to prove his fitness.

He said the committee would consider his return based on his performance and the requirements of the team.

The chief selector also brushed aside rumors of his conflict with Dav Whatmore, the newly-appointed head coach of Pakistan.

The coach and selectors were working hard on the fast bowlers, he added.

Talking about the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka next month, Qasim said the squad for the tour would likely be announced on May 12.
