ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law Farooq H Naek on Monday urged Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to avoid de-railing democracy and adopt legal way to unseat the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Talking to the media representatives outside the parliament house, he said the only available option is to bring vote of no confidence against the prime minister.

Referring to protest threats of PML-N he said the opposition has resorted to undue haste.

“PML-N must not lodge protest before the issuance of detailed judgment as it can encourage anarchy,” Naek said, adding that “democracy must not be derailed.”

Moreover the minister said, “Let the prime minister exhaust his available legal remedies. Pakistan People’s Party will accept the detailed judgment of Supreme Court.”

He said in the short order of the apex court, there is no mentioning of disqualification of the prime minister adding that the Prime Minister has not ridiculed the judiciary.

The role of Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza is of not mere post office but according to the constitution, she will have to apply her mind.

The speaker has the powers to decide the matter within 30 days. If she is unable to decide then the matter could be referred to the Election Commission of Pakistan, he said while responding to a question.
