GILGIT, May 1: Police recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition and arrested two people here on Tuesday.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Ali Sher told reporters in Gilgit that police on a tip-off raided a place in Kargah Nullah and recovered several SMGs, rifles, shotguns, pistols and live bullets. He said police also stopped a Chilas-bound vehicle at Hamochal checkpost and recovered explosives concealed in it and arrested the driver.

Meanwhile, a man committed suicide by jumping into Gilgit River. Local people retrieved his body and shifted it to DHQ hospital.

Police registered case and started investigation. —Correspondent
